So what make a good salesperson?
Having a good sales team around you is vital for a successful organisation. This means that employing the right person with the key skills is critical.
So, what would I consider are the top 10 key skills which are desirable and present in that perfect salesperson?
All of the key skills above are adaptable to any sales driven role. The role of a salesperson is to support and help customers and to obtain nuggets of information which may aid the delivery of the eventual sale. All good salespeople gain friends whilst working in sales. Customers remember that relentless salesperson with a friendly and personable attitude. Sometimes a warm “hello” is all that is required. Asking good questions unearths needs, and wants and understanding what your customer actually requires allows the good salesperson to fix the solution.
Good salespeople have a belief in themselves and in what they are selling. If you don’t believe in what you sell then you are fooling yourself and your prospects and clients. It will come across in the pitch and confidence is lost which ultimately leads to missed sales.
Selling isn’t easy, let’s be honest there will be more “no’s” than “yes’s”, but the good salesperson is relentless in their drive and determination to succeed. Hearing and understanding that “no” is all part of the sales process, it will make you a stronger salesperson developing your own skills to turn that “no” into a “yes”.
So what are you doing to improve your skills?
Happy Selling!
